How to allow PDF's to be visible on websites

Adding PDFs on your website pages as a clickable PDF link on a certain page within your site; or as a PDF icon within a WebsitePageItem

To add a PDF as a clickable PDF icon on a webpage, you’ll need to assign it as a clickable link within that page. This would mean it must be attached to a WebsitePageItem, rather than the main body of text on a Website Page. To do this:

  • Log into Webdadi, and click on Configuration from the left hand menu.
  • Select WebsitePageItems, from the dropdown next to Manage, and select List.
  • Find the WebsitePageItem that will be on that particular Website Page, i.e.. the item that you would like to have the PDF attached to.
  • Double click to open it.
Go to the Media tab and select Browse, and upload your PDF.  Select Open to save it.
  • Once you can see the PDF icon has been added in the media tab, click onto the PDF icon once and right click to select Status and change it to Approved, on web.
  • Then click Ok. The PDF will now display on that WebsitePageItem.
  • You can now add the WebsitePageItem to the Website page of your choice (or to multiple if you prefer).

Adding a PDF as a clickable URL link that opens the PDF on a new page:

  • Log into Webdadi, and click on Configuration from the left hand menu.
  • Select Website Page, and select List.
  • Find the Website Page that you would like to have the PDF attached to.
  • Double click to open that Website Page.
  • Go to the Media tab and select Browse, and upload your PDF.
  • Then once you can see the PDF icon has been added in the media tab select Status and change it to Approved, on web.
Now click once on the PDF to highlight it, right click on the PDF icon and select View Media.
  • This will bring up a new webpage with your PDF. Copy that URL as this is the unique URL for that PDF.
  • Using the URL button, find where in the text you would like to reference that PDF document. Highlight that text, for example: click here to see our PDF guide, and then press URL. When the URL popup appears, paste that URL onto it. Once you select Ok, the text should be highlighted in the paragraph. Once live, this will be a clickable URL on that website page.
  • Click Ok to save the changes.
